This is what “Saving Christians” is all about. It’s not about other religions rescuing Christianity, or that Christians should abandon their own tradition.
It is an invitation to learn from other faith traditions, and allow them to help speak into our lives and our faith so that we can be more faithful, loving, and just. More about the kingdom heaven here on earth.
Drawing on storytelling and encounters with Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, and Islam, Saving Christians explores how relationships across religious boundaries can deepen Christian faith and strengthen our commitments to love, justice, humility, and faithful action.

Each chapter includes discussion questions, and a six-week discussion guide will be available for groups that want to explore the book together.
More About Joel
A preacher, teacher, writer, United Methodist pastor, and moral leader - Joel’s faith calls him into work with other faith leaders and people of more conscience for a more loving and just world.
In 2017, he helped found Unity in Community, a non-profit committed to achieving racial equity in North Mecklenburg County, NC. His belief in love and justice has landed him in jail, testifying with church members before Congress, working with immigrants, and organizing people of faith across North Carolina for a more loving and just society where everyone can thrive.
Joel speaks at churches, conferences, college classrooms, festivals, visioning and strategy sessions, and more. His work has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, NPR, Religious News, and Christian Century.
Currently, Joel is pursuing his Doctor of Ministry at Duke University with a focus on Missional Innovation.
